My name is Merab. I was born and raised in Southern California to Mexican parents. I grew up surrounded by hardworking and talented women but the two who have influenced me the most are my mom and Abuelita.
My Abuelita’s cooking was more than just food, it told a story. This is how she shared her love and expressed her feelings. Abuelita would stand next to you to watch you enjoy her food and waited anxiously for your approval. I inherited this from my Abuelita and as I shared my food with friends, they encouraged me again and again to do something with this gift.
In Mexico, the place to get tortillas is called tortillería, you get your flowers at the florería, and now you can get your salsa at The Salseria.
